Raspberries (Rubus)
One of the 'classic' berries. Ripens from June till freezing (depending on the variety)

Typical granumated fruits from 1,0 cm till 3,0 cm mostly hanging with a few together.

Typical raspberry taste.
De yellow varieties are less tart.

Good hardy plant that produces canes from 1,5 up to 4 meter long in one grwoning season. Best grwon against a wall of another support system to prevent the canes from tumbling over.

Prefers a sunny spot. Halfshade is also possible.

Prefers a light, rather dy soil (work a lot of compost in the soil and cover with mulch)

Very early cropping (autumn fruiting varieties, will alkready give a harvest the year of planting).

Fruiting depends on the weather but is rarely a problem (cold and rain).

Flowers late (June-freezing). Flowers appear in small clusters and have white petals. Pollination is mainly done by bumble bees, but other flying insects can help.

Care:: remove the surpluss of suckers. Cut back the canes that have fruited. A yearly tipping of the soil with compost is much appreciated.

Apprarently, also birds love the raspberries....
