Good to reasonable cold tolerant. New canes can grow from 1,5 up to 6 meters in one season. They are best grown against a wall of on wires. Prefers a sunny spot or half shade. Blackberries grow best in sandy soil; however, they can be grown in soils that are at least one foot deep, have good drainage, and have a range of pH 4.5 to pH 7.5. They appreciate a good soil coverage (mulch). Very early croppers (normally already year after planting). Fruiting is rarely a problem. Flowers late (juni-frost). Flowers appear in small groups with mostly withe, sometimes white-purplish flowers.Pollination is done by a lot os insects (bees, flies, beetles...). Prune back the excess length of the canes. Tie canes to the wall or wires. Cut back the canes from previous year. Add some compost around the plant. Cover the soil with mulching material. Be aware of birds, they appreciate your work with an enormous appetitel... |
